Wimbledon Conservatives select Danielle Dunfield-Prayero.
Danielle enters politics after a career in finance and export. She has represented Great Britain in a Triathlon which she says was great preparation for raising three sons. Danielle's husband of twenty years, Gordon, was born and raised in South Wimbledon. He attended Pelham Primary with his brothers who went on to Wimbledon Chase and was a regular visitor to the Wimbledon YMCA. Danielle's father-in-law is an elder at Trinity United Reform Church which he has been attending with his wife for over half a century!
Danielle is an energetic and effective campaigner who can, in the words of Gillian Keegan, 'bring a dose of real-life experience to Westminster'. Andrew Tyrie says of Danielle, 'She is the genuine article. A brilliant woman capable of making a huge contribution to public life. I greatly value the work she did for me when I was an MP.'
Danielle looks forward to hitting the pavements and hearing the views of residents and businesses in every corner of the constituency, particularly the areas newly folded into the boundary after the recent review. From there, she will bring to bear her reputation for tackling problems, finding solutions, and getting things done.
Upon her selection Danielle is quoted as saying:
"I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the Wimbledon Conservative Association for putting their trust in me to be their Parliamentary Candidate. It is an enormous honour and a duty that I will conduct with professional rigour, energy, and integrity you can rely on."
Stephen Hammond, the retiring Member of Parliament for Wimbledon, commented on the selection saying:
"I am delighted that Wimbledon & the Maldens Conservatives have selected Danielle as their candidate for the General Election.
"Danielle is a proven campaigner, and I know that she will fight for the best interests of Wimbledon & the Maldens throughout the campaign and in Parliament.
"I know that Danielle is a committed local campaigner and aims to meet as many people as possible in the coming weeks and months. I believe that Danielle is the right person to stand up for Wimbledon & the Maldens and is the right person to be our next Member of Parliament."
